When I look at myself in the mirror in the morning what do I see? What do you see in the morning?
Do you see that your hair is not right, that the makeup is not enough, that the earrings in your ears are not standing out enough, that the blouse you chose is not saying the statement that you wanted? Maybe you see all of these things. Maybe you lie to yourself. The lie almost every single woman (christian or secular) tells themselves is that they need all of it, they need it to be respected, they need it to show that they are important, that they are powerful, they are independant and worthy of all that they think they have to have.
They need to be Independant and Powerful....Wow! Well what is the actual meanings of independance, powerful, important.......(by the Worlds definition, because that is what of course you are measuring yourselves today now is it not?)
Important: of great effect or conequence; momentous, of having high rank of status, or great authority, pretentious; pompous, significant, consequential, critical, all important, urgent, portentous, weighty ect.
Independance: the state of being indendant, independent income, freedom, liberty, self-rule, home ruld, self-determination,self confidence, self sufficiencty ect.
Powerful: having much power or strength, politically or socially influential, potent, strong, mighty, tough, bigorous, robust, energetic, sturdy stalwart, forceful, impotant, impressive ect.
When you analyze yourself and putting on all of that makeup (I wear makeup, but I wear as little as possible, it is truly made for only enhancing the beauty God gave you), fussing over the "perfect" hairstyle, the earrings that need to make a statement, the clothing and the statement you need to make....It sounds as though you are GLORIFYING YOURSELF, doesn't it. All of this is about what you think, feel, need.....self, self, self.
Now if you are a Christian women and this is you in the morning then I ask you...do you read your bible? If you did you would see in it that God commands us as women to not glorify self but glorify Him in all that we do....clothing, makeup, jewelery, shoes, music, children, working, grocery shopping, going to the mall, chatting with your womens bible studies....God hears all even the defiant words you yourself only hear in your heart.....
"She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms ....She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy....Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoic in time to come...She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness..Her children arise up, and called her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her..Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own workds praise her in the gates."
~Proverbs 31: 17,20,25,26,28,29,30,31~
When you dress to go anywhere why not start with the question,
"IS THIS TO GLORFY MYSELF OR IS TO GLORIFY GOD?"
"Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold,or of putting on of apparel; but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their unto own husbands."
1 Peter 3:3-5
If you dress for God's glory, for His kingdom and not to please only yourself, and those around you, I promise you will see the difference in yourself, in your attitude and the attitudes of those around you. Go out and be a blessing, a blessing of a God's love, a walking free advertisement for God's kingdom!
